Short Course in the Introduction to Project Management

15 Ethical Points Only R 3 850.00 (incl VAT)

Some companies seem able to consistently manage projects effectively the truth is however that most companies have mixed fortunes when they measure their results. How do the successful companies do it then? Good project management discipline is the only way to overcome the following common shortcomings during project management:

  • Over budgeted, and/or late results
  • Weak standard processes/ techniques and inconsistent use of these
  • Reactive process - proactive approach is regarded as a waste of time and money
  • Heavy stress and overtime necessary to complete the project

The value of good project management is that you have standard processes in place to deal with all contingencies.

Project management processes and techniques are used to coordinate resources to achieve predictable results. It should be understood clearly from the outset that project management is not totally a science, and there is never a guarantee of success. Because projects involve people, there are always complexities and uncertainties that cannot be absolutely controlled – so it is also an art that requires flexibility and creativity. It is a science because it relies on proven and repeatable processes to achieve success and an art because it has everything to do with managing and relating to people.
